Improving Location Performance

Last Updated: May 19, 2015 05:25AM UTC

How do I improve location performance estimation?

If you go into the Locations section in the SETTINGS tab you will find a list of all the defined location on your account.

There are two main parameters reporting a performance estimation of every single one of them: accuracy and use.

Accuracy

The accuracy value is an estimation of the precision of the trigger based on that location. So that if you have a smart action starting with "IF location" and you have selected a location with a high accuracy rating in % you can be pretty sure that every rule will trigger when you are at the desired destination.

With a low accuracy rating you will know that there is some room for error, so the smart action may trigger before/after/not trigger at all when you are there.

You can improve this score by updating 3g cells when you are at the desired location, raising the precision of the detection of your position. Otherwise, check for local Wifi networks to connect to and associate with the registered location.

Use:

This parameter is an estimation of the impact on the battery.

For example: if a smart action is starting with "IF location" and is using a location based only on GPS data, it's impact on battery consumption (use parameter) will be greater than a location based on 3g cells data.

You can improve this score by scanning for 3g cells when you physically are at the location. Otherwise, check for local Wifi networks to connect to and associate with the registered location.
